Peter Pointen, from Melton Constable, has been awarded the Dr NORMAN GILL CROP SCIENCE AWARD 2004.Peter, a student at 缅北禁地 College, Shropshire, was nominated for the award due to the quality of his Individual Major Project entitled 鈥楾he relationship between Crop Protection and Crop Nutrition鈥. Peter, 23, pursued this project to learn more about crop protection and crop nutrition and to obtain an understanding of the relationship between them. He believed this knowledge would prove valuable to him in his future career. He produced his dissertation by drawing information from recently published papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings. In addition, Peter performed exceptionally well in his viva voce at a level far higher than expected for an HND student.鈥 A former student of Easton College, Peter is currently working for SW Seed UK, carrying out field trials, and hopes to carve out a career in agronomy/advice work.
